User Steps Switching From Office365 to G Suite
“Sometimes the biggest gain in productive energy will come from cleaning the cobwebs, dealing with old business, and clearing the desks—cutting loose debris that’s impeding forward motion.”
This post explains the three core steps to switch your calendar entries, contacts and emails from Office365 to G Suite. These steps are to be done before the Office365 account is deleted by your IT company, at which point all emails will be redirected to G Suite.
1) Export all contacts from Outlook online or see these instructions if exporting from newer versions of the Outlook client(software on PC) into a CSV file. Then, this article explains how to import these contacts into G Suite.
3) Methods to look at old emails received into Office365.
- If using the Outlook client, which is the software installed on your PC, then you will have a copy of all your old emails on your PC, so you don’t have to do anything. Then, after the switch over date, all new emails will start going into the Gmail interface of G Suite. So if you want to check an old email address, then go into your Outlook client or you can use the following instructions to import all email into the Gmail interface.
- If checking email via the web interface at outlook.com, rather than using the Outlook client, you can import all old Outlook emails into the G Suite interface by following these steps.
3b) This step is optional, as when your IT company does the switch to G Suite this will occur. It is also only applicable if you have two domains for email for a temporary time e.g. Office 365 could be on [email protected], and G Suite set-up on [email protected] With this set-up, you can divert all future email from Office365 to the new domain already working with G Suite e.g. [email protected], by following these instructions. Those instructions are a good summary of all three steps.
